    I use my cement mixer to mix my potting soil. And normally I use some soil from the ground and some compost and throw some rabbit pellets in. If I have some store bought potting soil I will mix some of that in also.

    • @TheMoreYouGrow
      @TheMoreYouGrow День назад

      Add that to my list of wishlist item as haha I usually avoid actual soil in my potting mixes and prefer to make a “soiless” potting mix. There are a lot of soil pathogens that cannot live in soiless mixture due to it not having the aggregate they require to survive. In most cases you’d probably be fine with adding it but there is the chance of introducing nasties living in the soil as well

    How many cycles can I reuse the peat moss to grow annuals?

    • @TheMoreYouGrow
      @TheMoreYouGrow 2 дня назад

      The peat moss doesn’t really break down super fast so technically quite a few. The problem you will eventually run into diseases. Reusing potting soil over and over will eventually lead to bacterial and fungal diseases like fusarium (dampening off disease. Aka the seedling killer) so you can technically reuse but it’s a bit of Russian roulette

    Is that a Jersey milk cow? Jerseys are supposed to give the richest milk, Holsteins give the most milk. That looks like some nice dragon fruit cuttings. What did you use for your starfruit trees that you grew from grocery store fruit? Thanks

    • @TheMoreYouGrow
      @TheMoreYouGrow 2 дня назад

      @@lorenbush8876 she’s actually a belfair. Belfair is a cross of jersey and dexter and they make IMO the best homestead milk cow. Rich milk and less feed requirement. They give less milk than a jersey but honestly that’s also a plus since idk what I’d do with 3-5 gallons of milk a day 😂 I gifted my starfruit to a friend with a greenhouse. I should check in with him to see if he’s still getting fruit from them

    Hi Justin, If you have a steep slope what will you do to stop weeds back? I am in Italy with 4 seasons, I am looking to place a cloth to stop weeds but would prefer mulch but in my region, it is difficult to find or costly. I intend to plan plants that expand on the ground like thyme, rosemary, lavender ,.. and minimise maintenance . the bottom of the slop is flat and not sure what to do to maintain it free of weeds ? any suggestions be greatly appreciated , thanks a Francois

    • @TheMoreYouGrow
      @TheMoreYouGrow 18 дней назад

      The key to reducing weeds is knowing bare soil is your enemy. Anything you can do to cover it will reduce weeds. That can be fabric, mulch, or living plants. Ground covers like thyme would be excellent at cutting back the weeds. Think you’re already on the right track

It’s amazing how they are so smart and curious, they’ll fly right up to you and just hover in midair, checking you out. One of my favorite things to do is to set up my dslr camera on a tripod, zoom in and let it run on video and I walk away. I can catch some amazing shots, I’ll even set up my phone to take slow motion video, too. I could watch for hours, lol, they’re so fascinating.

    Can a tree grow in San Diego from a seed? And how long does it take to give fruits?

    • @TheMoreYouGrow
      @TheMoreYouGrow 18 дней назад

      It probably would grow well there but the downside to growing from seed is time (takes 10+ years depending on the tree) and there’s no telling what the fruit will be like. Grafting will get you fruit much sooner and will give you good quality fruit

      It’s also a good bed and would do a good job. I prefer these beds for a few reasons though. They have an exterior uv coating on steel panels with a 20+ year rating. This bed had more versatility in that you can make 12 different configurations with one kit. They also mentioned sturdiness, these beds are definitely strong and will not bow when soil soil is put in. Plus I prefer the rounded design so there are no sharp corners I’m going to catch myself on. Pretty sure they will last the rest of my life lol Again not bashing their beds, they look good and sturdy but those are my reasons I prefer these
